About Teresa Yuan

Teresa Yuan was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and has lived on Martha's Vineyard for 42 years. After moving to the United States at 19 years old she studied painting at the Art Student League as well as studied Chinese watercolor. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in oil painting from Pratt Institute in NYC. 

With her strong spiritual beliefs as a Buddhist she values and practices Zen meditation every day. This spirituality as well as her love of nature shines through in her artwork with bold colors and calming energy. Teresa’s paintings are inspired by the beauty around her especially through her travels around the world. Currently her work features oil paint with cold wax medium on gesso board. 

Her work can be seen at Old Sculpin Gallery, Kennedy Studios in Vineyard Haven. Her work is under the collection of LJ Johnston, President of the Guggenheim museum.
