About Sheila M. Fane

Art materials and tools fascinate me, which is why I am drawn to work in printmaking, paper-making, mixed media and sculpture. Process and experience are what I enjoy when creating art and the image or pictorial content are my reward at the completion of a project. The visual imagery and the ability to share my art with others is truly amazing. Color has always captured my attention. the bright and dull, the light and dark of a hue are such fun to create. One color has so many variations and these are especially present in landscapes and seascapes with the different times of dat and night and the effects of sunny, cloudy and overcast weather. On Martha’s Vineyard I have been inspired by nature’s elements. The skies, waters, hills and plains, along with the flora and fauna are abundant in their variety and abundance in every season. After more than 30 years on this island I am still discovering new ways to interpret its beauty and moods.
