“Palandri lost his job in New Hampshire to the pandemic and began a new journey. Soon after, a friend brought him to the Vineyard. Using his wits, warmth, and impressive body of work, Palandri secured a pop-up at Salte during the coveted Labor Day weekend. Most recently, Palandri was accepted as a member of the MV Art Association. You can see and purchase his work at Juniper, Coastal Supply Co. and the Old Sculpin Gallery.”

About Peter Palandri
“Peter Palandri is all about synchronicity. Washed ashore during the pandemic, Palandri brought with him a collection of pottery birthed from an incredible personal journey. With contemporary colors and a vintage flare, the cups, bowls, trays, wall hangings, and vases of Bowtied Ceramics capture Palandri’s vibrant spirit of evolution.
Palandri practices mono-printing, or newsprint transfer. He explains: “I’ll lay out a slab of clay, and set it that aside. I’ll do all my surface design on a piece of newspaper. I’ll paint it or stencil it on. I will take that sheet of paper and lay it on the slab. And when I peel it back it’s like a temporary tattoo.” The “paint” he uses is actually a colored slip- a water down mixture of clay and a dye, followed by a clear glaze. With overlaid layers of stripes, insignias, and patterns, he aims to capture the quality of a home with decades of peeling wallpaper: each era peels through in perfect juxtaposition.
A creative child of Chicago suburbs, Palandri spent the past 2 decades in Vermont working primarily in hospitality. Palandri’s connection to pottery deepened five years ago when he started his journey of sobriety. Palandri recalls how, “5 years ago I picked up ceramics [again} and I never looked back”. He honed his skills at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Tennessee, developing his signature colors and pleasing clash of patterns.”
