Edwina Rissland

Edwina Rissland is a fine art photographer. She has been coming to the Vineyard and the Cape her entire life and since the 1980s has made her seasonal home on Chappy. Edwina’s goal is to create painterly images by visually editing down reality. Often, it is striking color that first catches her eye and draws her into the process of composing and tightly framing her subjects. She likes to focus closely on details – often overlooked – to emphasize color and texture. Even something as mundane as crusty paint on an old hull can present a vibrant universe of its own to explore with eye and lens. Her favorite subjects include boats and all things marine as well as bustling marketplaces and seaside environments.
