Becoming a Member

The MVAA is a membership-based organization that accepts new members once a year through a jury process. Membership has a multitude of benefits, including being a part of the Island creative community and exhibiting one’s work in the historic Old Sculpin Gallery! 

Membership is contingent upon the following criteria:

  1. A mastery of your medium (non-student)

  2. An eagerness and ability to participate in our Association

  3. Island residency: year-round or seasonal

2019 Jury for Membership

Important dates for jurying this year are as follows:

  • Monday, July 15 - submit jpgs of five cohesive works submitted to for screening.

  • Friday, July 19 - artists are notified of rejection or advancement to jurying process.

  • Monday, July 29 - artists drop off five works that are framed and ready to hang at the Old Sculpin Gallery.

  • Monday, July 29 - after drop off the jury deliberates.

  • Tuesday, July 30 - artists are alerted of their selection status as a member of the MVAA and pick up their art.

  • Monday, August 5 - New member orientation meeting.
